SPAMILTON - An American Parody
Created, Written, and Directed by
Gerard Alessandrini
Kirk Douglas Theatre
November 5 - December 31, 2017

The New York Times calls it convulsively funny! The Chicago Tribune says it will leave you “howling with delight all night.” It’s a theatrical phenomenon, a cultural touchstone, and a certifiable sensation. It’s the show that’s sweeping the nation…sorta. It’s Spamilton!
After tearing it up in New York and Chicago, this hilarious parody from the comedic mastermind behind the long-running hit Forbidden Broadway fulfills its manifest destiny by conquering the West Coast. Get in line now for Spamilton! It’s the best show about Alexander Hamilton since…that other one.
NYT Critic's Pick
Smart, silly and convulsively funny!

The next best thing to seeing Hamilton!

Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue
Kirk Douglas Theatre
Jan 27 – Feb 25, 2018
A rare and rewarding thing: a work that succeeds on every level, while creating something new.
-The New York Times
Elliot Ortiz is a young soldier, like his Pop was before him, like his abuelo before him. But despite the things they share—their love of music, their love of each other, and their experiences of war—they can’t communicate, even when they desperately need to.
This powerful portrait of a Puerto Rican military family by Pulitzer Prize winner and Tony Award® nominee Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights, Water by the Spoonful) is a breathtaking symphony of music, memories, and the things that mark our bodies…and our souls. |
Elliot, A Soldier’s Fugue, the first in a trilogy of plays, will be produced at the Douglas at the same time as Center Theatre Group is presenting the second play in that trilogy, Hudes’ Pulitzer-winning play Water by the Spoonful at the Mark Taper Forum January 31 – March 11, 2018. Presented together, they offer Los Angeles theatre audiences a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the work of this exciting playwright’s work.
