Come From Away

Ahmanson Theatre

Nov 28, 2018 – Jan 6, 2019

Broadway's Come From Away is a Best Musical winner all across North America!

An exuberant antidote for what ails the American soul.

The Washington Post

This New York Times Critics' Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.

Don't miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by this year's Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Newsweek cheers, It takes you to a place you never want to leave!

On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all.

It's impossible not to be deeply moved by this savvy and thoroughly entertaining musical. A tonic for our times.

The Hollywood Reporter

NEW ADVENTRUES / MATTHEW BOURNE

CINDERELLA

Ahmanson Theatre

FEB 5 - March 5, 2019

A VALENTINE TO THE POWER OF LOVE.

 Los Angeles Times

Matthew Bourne's interpretation of the classic fairy tale has, at its heart, a true war-time romance. A chance meeting results in a magical night for Cinderella and her dashing young RAF pilot, together just long enough to fall in love before being parted by the horrors of the Blitz.

Following the dazzling adaptation of The Red Shoes in 2017, New Adventures return to the Ahmanson with one of their most popular and beloved productions, Matthew Bourne's Cinderella—a thrilling and evocative love story, set in London during the Second World War.

With Lez Brotherston's sumptuous Olivier Award-winning designs, lighting by Olivier Award-winning Neil Austin and video and projection designs by Duncan McLean, Cinderella will be performed in surround sound, designed by Paul Groothuis. Matthew Bourne's vivid story telling has never been more heart-stopping and touching, and will take the audience into the heart of Prokofiev's magnificent score, and the sights and sounds of war-torn London.

WONDERFUL. A PERFECT TREAT. BOURNE'S VISION IS GLORIOUS.

Falsettos

Ahmanson Theatre

April 16 – May 19, 2019

"AN EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCTION OF A PERFECT MUSICAL.

 The New York Times

William Finn and James Lapine's groundbreaking, Tony Award®-winning musical Falsettosreturned to Broadway in an all new production directed by Lapine from Lincoln Center Theater, and was nominated for five 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.

A MASTERWORK. IT THROBS WITH PASSION AND COMPASSION.

 Chicago Tribune

Falsettos revolves around the life of a charming, intelligent, neurotic gay man named Marvin, his wife, lover, about-to-be-Bar-Mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door. It’s a hilarious and achingly poignant look at the infinite possibilities that make up a modern family… and a beautiful reminder that love can tell a million stories.

BRAVE AND HILARIOUS. A CHARMING AND DEEPLY MOVING TREASURE.

Soft Power

May 3 – Jun 10, 2018

World Premiere

Hilariously provocative, what begins as a contemporary play slowly becomes a play with music set 150 years in the future in this seductive World premiere by Tony Award® winner David Henry Hwang (Yellow Face, M. Butterfly). A beloved East-meets-West musical, China’s 21st-century rise, and a theatre company gala collide to make mayhem—and some beautiful music. Inspired by the West's often ridiculously inauthentic portrayals of Asia, Soft Power is a Center Theatre Group commission and the first collaboration between two of America's great theatre artists: Hwang and Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home).

The Humans

Jun 19 – Jul 29, 2018

Stephen Karam’s The Humans is an uproarious, hopeful, and heartbreaking play that takes place over the course of a family dinner on Thanksgiving. Breaking with tradition, Erik Blake has brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate and give thanks at his daughter’s apartment in Lower Manhattan. As darkness falls outside the ramshackle pre-war duplex and eerie things start to go bump in the night, the Blake clan’s deepest fears and greatest follies are laid bare. Our modern age of anxiety is keenly observed, with humor and compassion, in this new American classic that won the 2016 Tony Award® for Best Play.

Crazy for You

Ahmanson Theatre

Feb 7 – Mar 18, 2018

Crazy for You scrapes away decades of cabaret and jazz and variety-show interpretations to reclaim the Gershwins' standards, in all their glorious youth, for the dynamism of the stage.Frank Rich, The New York Times

Exclusive Pre-Broadway Production!

Five-time Tony Award® winner Susan Stroman (Show Boat, Contact, The Producers) returns to direct and choreograph an all-new production of the acclaimed musical comedy that launched her Broadway career—Crazy for You. Featuring a hilarious book by two-time Tony nominee Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor) and a score of showstoppers by George and Ira Gershwin including "I Got Rhythm," "Embraceable You," "Slap That Bass," and "Someone To Watch Over Me," Crazy for You is an irresistibly funny valentine to the American musicals of the 1930s. Welcome to a world of cowboys and showgirls, where a Wall Street guy and a Main Street gal can fall madly in love, put on a show, and dance their way to happiness!

Crazy for You is a raucous musical tale about the power art has to bring life to a community. I am thrilled at the chance to re-discover this great comedy, with the most choreographically-inspiring Gershwin music the world has ever known.
